Dads are truly special people who do so much for their families, things that are often behind the scenes and go unnoticed. So this year, why not start some Father’s Day Traditions he will love, and make his day really special! I’ve included ideas for a unique gift he can enjoy all year-long, fun family outings, and more!
8 Father’s Day Traditions to Start This Year
Give a Unique Gift He Can Appreciate All Year
Each year we get one special day devoted to reminding the fatherly figures in our lives just how much they mean to us. You guessed it, Father’s Day! Father’s Day is approaching, and approaching quickly and no matter how you’re celebrating dad this year, one thing that’s certain is that you’ll want him to feel special. Between gifts for the yard, the grill or anywhere else outdoors it can be hard to pick one thing that he wants or really even needs. With so many different options it can be hard to decide. But, have you ever considered creating a space where he can simply relax? A man cave is the perfect place for him to indulge in his favorite hobbies and kick back. Whether you have an entire garage to decorate or just a small space, Gifts.com has you covered with a wide selection of man cave ideas.
Plan an Outdoor Adventure
Father’s Day Traditions can be fun for the whole family! Why not plan an outdoor adventure that will provide quality family time and create unforgettable memories. It could be a camping trip, a day of hiking or fishing, whatever outdoor activities your dad loves best. Being active and outdoors will allow time for relaxation and stress free family time, just what dads need to celebrate their day!
June is the perfect time to take a family vacation. What could be better than a week-long vacation of fun and relaxation for a new Father’s Day tradition! Pick a destination your family will love and spend the week just being together and celebrating dad. Have a favorite spot? Revisit and create new memories each year. Want to try something new and exciting? Choose a location you’ve never been before.
Give the Gift of Fun
My husband works very hard to provide for us. He is training to be a cardiologist, so he works long hours most of the time. A perfect gift for the dad who work a lot is to plan a day for his favorite outing/hobby. My husband likes to play golf, so a gift of 18 holes would be perfect for him. What about the dads in your life? What do they enjoy most? Start the perfect Father’s Day Tradition by giving the gift of fun!
Create a Homemade Gift
We know how much moms love to receive homemade gifts for Mother’s Day. But dads love them too! So create another new Father’s Day Tradition by making a craft, card, or other homemade gift your dad will cherish. Need some ideas? Have a great gift you can’t wait to give your dad? Maybe it’s too big to wrap and you are looking for a unique way to give his gift. One way we like to give gifts is through a scavenger hunt. We plant clues that lead to each new clue, until you find the gift. It is so much fun! Dads will love receiving their present in this unique way, and you can do it over and over with new clues every year!
Host a Backyard BBQ
Some of the best times are when all of your family and friends are together. Start a new Father’s Day tradition by hosting a Family BBQ for your parents, siblings, and other close relatives or friends. You can celebrate all the dads in your life with good food and fun. Give Dad the Day Off
This is personally my favorite Father’s Day Tradition idea. Dads work very hard and need a break from time to time, so let dad rest! Let him sleep in, serve him breakfast in bed, have him do one (or more!) of his favorite activities. Take care of the yard work and other chores for the day! I also like the idea of dads paying this forward. Is there a new dad they know that could use the day off? He could take care of the yard work and other chores for a day. How meaningful would that be?
